Talks between Alex Albon and several Formula 1 teams have taken place as the British-Thai racer considers his options going forward.
Albon has raced for Williams for the last two seasons, and his current deal is coming to an end. Furthermore, he has drawn attention with his performances and outcomes during that period, in addition to solidifying his position on the grid.
Having scored all but one of the team’s 28 points in the constructors’ championship last year, he nearly single-handedly led the team to seventh position. Additionally, rival teams with faster cars have taken notice since his contract expires in December.
According to recent reports, two teams attempted to sign Albon prior to the 2023 season but were turned down.
Alpine and Haas are the two teams identified by Lawrence Barretto on the official Formula One website.
And they’re not the only ones who are enthusiastic. If Ferrari needs to make a change, Mirror Sport understands that the 27-year-old is very high on their list of possible recruits, and the report adds that there are many more interested parties.
“Running [Carlos] Sainz close for the accolade of biggest key to the driver market is Alex Albon,” Barretto states. “It is understandable that Williams wants to retain the Thai racer, who led the team to seventh place in the constructors’ championship last year.
“Albon and his group are thought to have discussed a potential transfer with at least half of the grid, future, with Alpine and Haas having expressed interest in hiring him for 2023. One of the interested parties is reportedly Ferrari.”
The article continues, speculating that Albon might even be poised for a spectacular comeback for Red Bull, stating, “My sources say Red Bull engineers rate him highly.” The Williams driver acknowledged to himself last year that he still keeps in touch with Christian Horner, the former team principal.

“Christian is always messaging me, telling me, ‘Good job,” he stated. It’s always pleasant to have that bond with an elderly traditional team leader. We had a terrific weekend, and it was very sweet of Christian to say as much.”
Additionally, Horner stated in November about his former driver, “He’s fantastic, brilliant, and did a fantastic job for us when he stepped down to be the test driver.” He put in the hours, never moaning or complaining, and I was thrilled to find him a seat in Williams. He’s regained his shape, gained experience, toughened up, and is once again in high demand.”
