Breaking: WrestleMania XL might mark the end of Roman’s rule.

Like many fans of professional wrestling, I’ve gone from being utterly perplexed about the main event of WrestleMania XL to being ecstatic about whatever WWE has planned for April 7-8 in Philadelphia throughout the last ten or so days.

Although I can understand why people would still like to know what transpired to make Seth Rollins convince Cody Rhodes to defend the World Heavyweight title with his victory from the Royal Rumble instead of facing Universal champion Roman Reigns once more, and particularly why Rhodes seemed to put his narrative on hold so that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could take on Reigns—me specifically? I’m able to put together acceptable responses from the information provided*, and I’m generally quite curious about what they’ve (probably?) direction changed to where it’s heading.

A large and possibly misguided interest in a fantasy booking theory circulating on Al Gore’s website—that WrestleMania XL will be WWE’s take on Avengers: Endgame—contributes to some of that excitement.

Not the time-travel aspect, of course, even though I never really understood that aspect of the MCU blockbuster and it didn’t really affect how much I liked the movie as a whole. In fact, it fits this analogy rather nicely as well. However, the Endgame moment that some fans are expecting we witness in The Linc is more akin to this from WrestleMania:With an incredible rollins on Raw promo last night (February 12), the notion gained a lot of traction.
That ends Reigns’ and Johnson’s partnership in WWE as sports entertainment Thanos. In a nod to his own past with Roman and the most recent in-story admission that The Tribal Chief’s rule wouldn’t have endured, Seth offers to be Cody’s “shield.”

clinched the deal. He had gone without much assistance from his faction’s members for more than a thousand days.

Now, maybe after The Bloodline appeared to have taken out Rollins the previous evening, I really, truly want to see a broken and bruised American Nightmare facing off against them alone. When it seems like there is no hope left, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and a host of other wrestlers who have been taken advantage of by Roman, Rock, Solo Sikoa, and Jimmy Uso approach him to try and right the score. After hearing that Seth was transported to a medical center in Philadelphia, he hobbles back. Cody’s Avengers team up to defeat The Bloodline, allowing Captain America: Nightmare to complete his tale and put an end to Roman rule.

Different accounts describe what occurs in the The “Portals” sequence from the last act of Endgame has already occurred and will occur once more. Thus, if a different reference works better for you, feel free to choose it. It won’t be a shot-for-shot reproduction, and none of us are interested in seeing LA Knight give his life to keep the WWE Universe alive in the first place. However, many people feel that The Tribal Chief’s tenure at The Head of the Table has resulted in stale storytelling, thus the thought of WWE putting this spin on it on their Grandest Stage sounds quite attractive.
