Super Bowl 58, which was played inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday night ended in one of the most devastating overtime losses you will ever witness for head coach Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers. In this one, Shanahan’s team got off to a tremendous start, racing to a 10-0 lead. However, in the end, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense took it to the next level, winning in overtime and taking the souls of 49ers fans everywhere with them.
Now, a recently discovered video of Shanahan—who graciously wore a microphone for the game—reveals that the 49ers coach was not exactly pleased with the refereeing that was taking place inside Allegiant Stadium.
Hey, I witnessed the hold, but they always act in that manner. They grasp, tug, and release our guy when Pat walks away. According to the video, which was provided by Coach Yac on X, the social media site that was once known as Twitter, Shanahan stated at one point, “That’s what our guy did, make sure they call it both ways.”
Kyle Shanahan to the official after George Kittle’s catch was called back:
“Hey, I saw the hold, but that’s what they do every time. They hold, they tug our guy til Pat leaves & then they let go. That’s what our guy did, make sure they call it both ways.”

Recently, Shanahan controversially fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, leaving San Francisco with more questions than answers heading into the offseason.
