In the few minutes after the test started, all ten cars—led by George Russell in the Mercedes—took to the track for the first time. The majority are expected to turn over control to their teammates in the afternoon, however Max Verstappen will race in the new Red Bull RB20 for the entire day, and Russell will drive the W15 for the entire day.

Teams arrived to the desert circuit, where the opening round of the 2019 season will take place next week, to find the usual sunny and scorching weather.
