ANGELES — The Los Angeles Lakers announced that Anthony Davis had departed the game against the Golden State Warriors after the first quarter due to a contusion in his left eye.
When Davis was scoring on a layup, Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis accidentally struck him in the face, causing injuries. For the following few minutes, he kept playing, but ultimately, he left the game and never came back.
After the hit, Davis’s eye swelled shut and his vision became affected, an individual familiar with the issue told ESPN. In order to establish his availability for Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, he will be watched over night and on Sunday.
In the 12 minutes that Davis played, Los Angeles defeated Golden State by a score of six, with the Lakers’ All-Star center scoring eight points on 3-for-6 shooting, 1 block, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.
In place of Davis, backup big man Jaxson Hayes ended with seven points and twelve rebounds in 28 minutes.
