The stage was set for some unusual performances on Sunday with the finalization of the Boston Celtics injury report. With Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jaylen Brown out, Boston’s supporting cast would have an opportunity to perform well.
No one realized history was on the horizon.
Sam Hauser scored ten points in a mere 22:49 of play. Hauser made the most threes in the fewest minutes out of all the players who have made 10 or more in 94 appearances.
With an ankle injury, Hauser left the game in the middle of the third quarter. Although Jayson Tatum stated that he “seems to be doing fine” and Joe Mazzulla stated that he had a “cautionary X-ray,” the condition left additional history unresolved.
Tatum stated, “We were attempting to persuade him to smash the record.”
On January 18, 2020, Marcus Smart made the most threes of any Celtic in a game with 11. Hauser was a very reserved person. However, that wasn’t the only number he could have chosen.
Al Horford remarked, “I was hoping he was going to go for 15.” “Aim for the league record and even smash the Celtics record.” He simply had a really nice beat. So, it was interesting to observe.
The record for the most threes made in a single game is held by Klay Thompson. On October 29, 2018, he played just 27 minutes and drained 14. Hauser flipped his ankle on a Washington Wizards bench player while he was still within striking reach.
