While observing the Australian Grand Prix qualifying session on Saturday, Jelena Dokic, the former world No. 4 in the rankings, was involved in an odd incident that resulted in an eye injury. After Fernando Alonso skidded off the track at Melbourne’s Albert Park and splattered pebbles on some spectators, the former Australian tennis star was given medical assistance.

Dokic, who was also impacted, posted a video of a doctor using drops to rinse her eye in a Mercedes lounge on social media. She also joked about how her makeup didn’t come off throughout the incident.

She posted on Instagram, “When you go to the Formula One weekend at the @ausgp and a car literally goes off track in front of you and all the rock debris flies right into your eye.”

“When Fernando Alonso veered off course, the rock fragments that are shooting off the back wheels struck my right eye directly. It required treatment, but everything is well now. Just a scraped and bloodshot eye. I’ll make it through. The paramedic at the @mercedesbenzau lounge did incredible, swift work.

I appreciate everyone who looked after me. I’m doing fine. Get set to see more Formula One!Oh, and I can attest that the makeup managed to remain on and not rub off. Incredible.
