White Sox trade three players All-Star, yet another seasoned
The Chicago White Sox are parting ways with a couple of seasoned veterans. The White Sox have released All-Star third baseman Mike Moustakas and outfielder Kevin Pillar.
The White Sox had both Moustakas and Pillar sign minor league contracts last month in the hopes of making the team’s Opening Day roster. It was thought that both of the 35-year-olds had a good chance of making the cut
The White Sox took a different approach, adding a veteran to their team who played for the Texas Rangers in the 2023 World Series.
A three-time All-Star, Moustakas first gained notoriety while playing with the Kansas City Royals.
Five seasons prior, when playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Moustakas was an All-Star with a.254 batting average, 35 home runs, and 87 RBIs. But lately, he hasn’t been as effective at the plate. Since 2019, Moustakas has not been able to hit over.250 or accumulate more than 12 home runs in a season.
The previous season, Pillar appeared in 81 games with the Atlanta Braves. He hit.228/.248/.416 with nine home runs and thirty-two RBIs.
