Former world number one Jelena Jankovic believes that legendary Serena Wiliams is the most ‘recognizable tennis player’ of the last few decades.
The 42-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in women’s tennis in the singles category, having won as many as 23 Grand Slam titles.
A article recently featured Jankovic, the 2008 US Open runner-up, referring to Serena as the most “recognizable tennis player of last few decades.”
The 39-year-old stated, “I think Serena Williams is the most famous tennis player of at least the last few decades.” “I am very grateful to her for all that she has done for our sport.”
Speaking about her upcoming match against Serena, Jankovic said she was shocked that the former world number one had defeated her four times in her career.
Did I really beat Serena four times? That plus the fact that I defeated Venus and Serena Williams in less than a day at one of the events are two things I’m particularly pleased of,” she remarked. Such a feat has not been accomplished by many actresses.
The women of America must not have slept well back then. I recall that I formerly had a winning record versus Serena, but in our most recent encounters, she consistently defeated me.
That look at the end 😊@serenawilliams is in the house 👋#MiamiOpen pic.twitter.com/xarS3Kr1F7
