Although the Dallas Cowboys have consistently had some of the most intriguing franchise tales in the NFL, it’s nearly hard to guess what Jerry Jones and company will come up with in 2024.
If you pay attention to Jones, he continues to support his claim that Dallas is going “all in” in 2024 in an attempt to win another Lombardi Trophy and eventually overcome their playoff disadvantage.
After the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs early, that reasoning made sense. Their franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, was leading the MVP conversation for the majority of the season and ended 2023 with one of his finest statistical seasons as a pro. They had a team full of talent on both sides of the ball. The Dallas Cowboys had a perfect home record going into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed.
However, Dallas choked in the opening round of the playoffs, losing to a youthful Green Bay Packers club that had just about sneaked into the postseason, as anyone with a pulse has come to anticipate.
To clear salary space and recruit fresh players in free agency, almost every NFL Insider thought the Dallas Cowboys will offer Dak Prescott a contract extension. However, Jones hasn’t done anything and is letting Prescott finish out his contract.
The team has lost a number of coaches, most notably defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who left to take the head coaching position at Washington, a rival of the Cowboys, taking with him several assistants.
Dallas is anticipated to replace a few of its best playmakers on both sides of the ball in addition to its coaches. The most obvious need is a running back to take Tony Pollard’s spot, who signed a deal with the Tennessee Titans.
