Tiger Woods has never missed the cut at The Masters as a professional. Woods carded rounds of 73 and 72 to make it through the weekend at Augusta National.
Tiger Woods made a record-breaking 24th consecutive cut at The Masters, surviving a lengthy Friday and challenging conditions to reach the weekend at Augusta.
Woods was one under after 13 holes when play was delayed due to darkness on Thursday, after storms prompted a two-and-a-half-hour delay earlier in the day, forcing the former world number one to return early on Friday morning to complete his round.
The 48-year-old bogeyed two of his final five holes in cold conditions, finishing at one-over 73 and eight shots behind clubhouse leader Bryson DeChambeau, with only about 45 minutes to relax before returning for his second round.
Woods then overcame a tired body and heavy gusts to shoot a level-par 72 and extend his professional streak of never making the cut at The Masters, breaking the previous mark of 23 straight cuts set by Gary Player and Fred Couples.
“It means I have a chance going into the weekend,” Woods was quoted as saying. “I am here. I have a possibility of winning the golf tournament. I’m not sure if they’ll all complete today, but I’m done. I got my two rounds in. Just need some food and caffeine, and I’ll be OK.”
