Ferrari is apparently prepared to unveil a “massive package” during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which has been branded a “2.0 version” of its 2024 Formula One car.
Ferrari has approved their first major development of the 2024 season for their first home race in Imola, with the package anticipated to include design features inspired by Red Bull’s RB20, according to Formu1a.uno.
According to the Italian journal, the upgraded SF-24 would have “reversed” or “inverted” radiator inlets that are “extreme in terms of openings”.
According to the article, Ferrari found “greater gains than expected” from the package, which will be introduced in the season’s first European race.
At the debut of the SF-24, Ferrari technical director Enrico Cardile hinted that the Italian company may be more flexible with their development in 2024.
Our vehicle has a more robust basis, and we require flexibility. “If we evaluate advantages, we will adopt them; we are willing to change plans,” Cardile stated in February.
The Imola package is expected to be the first of three major upgrades for Ferrari this year.
“The new inlets will be reversed compared to the original SF-24 solutions. Formu1a.uno states that they will be influenced by the RB20 but will not be a direct duplicate.
Ferrari will use its own rendition of the upturned jaws on the developed SF-24, which are also seen in a less extreme form on the McLaren. The most significant innovation in terms of “pure performance” comes from improvements at the bottom, with a redesign of the conveyors.”
Ferrari has had a solid start to the season, emerging from the winter as Red Bull’s closest competitors.
They are the only team other than Red Bull to have won a race this season, owing to Carlos Sainz’s outstanding performance in Australia.
Ferrari is second in the constructors’ championship, 21 points behind Red Bull after the first four races.
