In September or October, Francis Ngannou will return to mixed martial arts following his devastating knockout loss to Anthony Joshua.
In their heavyweight bout last month, Joshua downed former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou twice before stopping him for good in the second round. Since then, Ngannou has come up with a long series of justifications for his defeat, even attributing his lack of confidence to his tardiness in getting to the stadium.
In order to pursue a boxing career, Ngannou gave up his UFC heavyweight belt last year and signed with the rival MMA promotion PFL. Following his contentious loss to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in October of last year, the 37-year-old is currently 0-2 in the ring. Joshua was his most recent opponent. PFL president Donn Davis avishas now declared that Ngannou will make his promotional debut in the fall.
When asked about Ngannou’s return to mixed martial arts by Mirror Fighting, Davis replied, “We talked to Francis and he said before the fight in Saudi Arabia that he planned to come in MMA this year.” “It just hinged on how the fight turned out; he stated that it would happen sooner if he lost and that it would have happened later if he had won.
