Erik Jones was transferred to a local hospital center following this dramatic crash on Sunday during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
In the immediate aftermath, the driver of Legacy Motor Club No. 43 was assessed and released from the infield care center, although he said that his back had stretched out and that he expected to be sore for the next week.
“I’m sore, it just really stretched it out a lot,” Jones remarked after being evaluated and released. “So, it will be a tough week, just trying to heal and feel better for next week. But I’m okay.”
Right after the crash, over his team radio, he said his back was in pain and there was audible pain in his voice.
