One of the biggest trades of the NFL offseason was the Chicago Bears moving former first-round quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for several choices. Fields now serves as the backup quarterback to veteran Russell Wilson, who signed a one-year contract with Pittsburgh in free agency.
The former Bear recently spoke with the Pittsburgh media about his time in Chicago.
“There were a lot of ups and downs…All in all, I appreciate every relationship that I’ve built…Nothing but love for the city, for the fans,” Fields said, per Mike DeFabo.

The former Ohio State star now has a great opportunity to sit behind a future Hall-of-Famer in Russell Wilson to learn how to become a more complete player
He is still 25 years old and has his entire career ahead of him. However, while in Chicago, Fields was given a difficult hand, having to play for different head coaches and in a makeshift offence.
He has a 10-28 record as a starter and a career completion percentage of 60.3%. Despite numerous challenges, he has demonstrated his ability to be active on the ground. Back in 2022, he carried for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns. Behind Wilson, Fields can learn how to be a better football passer. After all, the nine-time Pro Bowler is one of the best deep ball throwers in the league.
Playing under a winning coach like Mike Tomlin will also help Fields develop. Who knows whether he’ll have a chance to start this season, but he’ll at least be able to learn from one of the top signal-callers in the last decade.
