Details of a new five-year contract for athletic director

Details of a new five-year contract for athletic director Jeramiah Dickey have surfaced, as the deal will go for approval from the State Board of Education on Wednesday.

Dickey will make $3.2 million in guaranteed compensation over the five-year deal in base salary, retention bonuses and housing allowances.

Boise State president Dr. Marlene Tromp announced Dickey had agreed to a new contract on August 6th amid interest from Houston, where Dickey previously worked, for its vacant athletic director position.

More than four months later the contract is done, and likely to be finalized and approved on Wednesday.

The contract, which was posted online to the State Board website Monday as part of the agenda for Wednesday’s regularly scheduled meeting and can be viewed here, will pay Dickey $465,000 in base salary in year one, which started on July 1 at the start of the 2026 Fiscal Year, and increase 2.5 percent each year.

The $465,000 is a raise of $35,000 from what he was scheduled to make this season. But the new deal includes a $75,000 signing bonus and yearly retention bonuses of at least $75,000 to be paid on May 1 of each year.

He also receives an annual housing allowance of $54,000. Of note, Dickey would be the first non-president employee at a University or college to have a housing allowance approved, according to notes on the meeting agenda.

Given the signing and retention bonuses and housing allowance, Dickey’s guaranteed compensation will surpass $600,000 in each of the five years.
